My role as designer was to lead the renovation of the kitchen, butler’s pantry, and third-floor bath in a historic 1911 home in Narragansett Pier, culminating a five-year collaboration that began in 2020. We thoughtfully updated each room over time, saving this largest phase for last. Working within a historic structure required careful navigation of plumbing, venting, and electrical constraints, all while preserving the home’s character.
In addition to modernizing the kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and refined finishes like Carrara marble and quartzite, we reimagined the former maid’s quarters into a functional third-floor bathroom. Original elements, including the tub and sink, were carefully restored and integrated into the new design—maintaining a sense of authenticity while adapting the space for contemporary living. The result is a cohesive update that brings the home to today’s standards while honoring its original charm and architectural integrity not to mention that an additional bathroom is handy during the busy summer months when guests arrive.
