This project holds deep personal meaning, as this home was our own. We had been searching for the right home in Narragansett for quite some time, and when the opportunity finally appeared, everything seemed to align perfectly. The house, a 1940s cottage in completely original condition had never been updated, which meant there were no ill-conceived renovations to undo, only authentic character waiting to be reimagined.
The large yard, stone walls, perennial gardens, fieldstone fireplace, and original hardwood floors immediately inspired my vision for what the home could become. Since purchasing the property
in 2014, the home has gone through several phases of renovation, gradually evolving into the year-round forever home we envisioned for our family.
The project featured here reflects the second major phase of that transformation, when we lifted the home to install a new foundation. With that essential structural work complete, the framework was finally in place to support the thoughtful improvements and long-term vision that would follow.
