Create a Healthier Home & Framework to Achieve Optimal Wellbeing
Design For Wellness
We’re so happy you're here! We have so much we want to share with you!
We passionately believe that design matters, and that what you surround yourself with has a profound effect on your physical, mental and emotional self—supporting everyday wellness. It’s time for Balanced Interiors to expand into not only creating aesthetically beautiful spaces—I’ll keep doing that, I love creating with you—but also into a wellness approach: curating a healthy home and workplace environment through intentional interior design.
I couldn’t be more proud in saying that collaborating with me on this is my daughter Catherine. We have developed a 4 pillar program to help immerse you in a safe and supportive environment, and to provide structure for lasting wellness. We’ve learned so much from each other, embracing a sustainable lifestyle where we are surrounded by people and things that support us physically, mentally and emotionally—and strengthen wellness. Going sustainable means you’re making a healthy choice—one that will help you create an environment that supports and nurtures you back to your balanced and vibrant self, with wellness in mind.
It’s not a traditional health program; rather it’s a whole-life approach that supports wellness—you might say holistic. We look at all of your routines, your relationship with food, what does your home environment look like, and ask, is it supporting you?
When we think of one's overall health, it is all of these factors and more that make up our well-being and day-to-day wellness. We can achieve a better sense of balance by continuously making adjustments, building routines, and leaving space for creativity to be infused—an approach that supports wellness.
Be well,

ENVIRONMENT
Natural Light, Daylighting Planning, and Indoor Health
Natural light is a beautiful and foundational part of wellness design, supporting wellness through brighter, more comfortable indoor spaces. Daylight supports the body’s natural rhythm, which can positively affect sleep, mood, energy, and overall wellbeing and wellness. In indoor spaces, balanced light can reduce eye strain, ease headaches, and improve focus for work, study, and daily activity—supporting physical comfort and wellness. From an interior design perspective, we begin with daylight planning—looking at window placement, shade systems, and reflective elements so light can move deeper into the room without harsh glare; these are design choices that can promote wellness.
An interior decorator can help by selecting window treatments, colors, and furniture placement that make the most of what’s already there, while an interior designer may also address building constraints, wall changes, floor plans, and lighting systems to provide more complete wellness support. This wellness focused approach also considers air and ventilation, because clean air and supportive ventilation work together with light to create a healthier home environment and promote wellness. Good ventilation, filtration, and low-toxin materials are wellness features that promote health and support physical comfort over time.
Our environment, at home and in the workplace, has a significant impact on our overall wellbeing and wellness. We cannot control our external environment but we can control the environment within our own home. Does your environment support a healthy lifestyle?
Do you have access to natural light, clean air and water? In this pillar, we will dive into several aspects of your environment ranging from synthetic fragrances, cleaning products, sustainable furnishings and layout. We will work together to create a space where you can feel calm and rejuvenated.
We also provide a free checklist to help you assess light, air, and furnishings before your first call, and we can provide a second free resource for planning small upgrades.

NUTRITION
Food is one of the most powerful forms of medicine we have. Our food choices and the ingredients we consume have a significant effect on our health and overall well being. Many of us have recognized an imbalance in our eating habits and are consciously making lifestyle changes and modifying our diets.
In this pillar, you will learn about the importance of ingredients, building a healthy pantry and why it's important to know where you food is coming from. We’ll help you navigate GMO’s, toxins in your cookware, how to tap into your local food market scene to eat seasonally and recipes and meal prepping to go along with your lifestyle needs.

PERSONAL CARE
Our skin is our largest organ and what you put on it matters.
What you wear, how you feel in your body, the way your skin glows, contributes to your sense of self and overall wellbeing. Your body absorbs everything from the lotions you lather on, to the perfume or cologne you spritz with each morning.
In this pillar we will take a deep dive into the personal care industry and uncover hidden truths. We'll share what is allowed in the US but banned across most of the world, and create a routine that is healing and healthy for you and the planet.

SACRED SPACE
Every home deserves a space where one can relax, calm their minds, breath and come back to their natural state of balance. It need not be a whole room, many of us don’t have that luxury. Since 2020, we’ve already had to transform and share rooms to create a home office.
In this pillar we’ll guide you in where to clear the clutter, how to use essential oils to set the mood and so much more. Each pillar is designed to promote wellness with practical steps we can provide in a personalized plan.
